With the peak of the winter season and mid pandemic crisis, frequently hand-washing and wearing a face mask for long hours might give you worrisome of dry and cracked skin.

Following WHO and CDC covid-19 precautions, you need to add up a few elements in your self-care to have healthy and hydrated skin. Because dehydrated and dry skin causes acne, rashes, blisters, or eczema which can develop a higher risk for skin infections.

So if you are dealing with dry skin like I had, follow these basic tips to heal up, so you can have smooth and sleek skin.

Moisturizing is a key to glow:

You all heard it, Moisturize to have glowing dewy skin! In a situation like covid and winters never skip out this step.

After washing up your face and hands, rinse and let it dry out gently, and then apply fragrance and dye-free moisturizer soon. If you feel your hands or face are dry out after applying rich creams or lotions, keep applying more.

Make sure your moisturizer contains:

  • Glycerin or hyaluronic acid
  • Look for Shea butter or cocoa butter with other ingredients to prevent flaky skin and lock in moisture.
  • Always pick up fragrance and dye-free.

To know: Keep moisturizer near your bathroom or kitchen sink. So you know to apply it right after you done with hand or face wash.

Wash with lukewarm water:

Always wash your hands or face with lukewarm water instead of hot water. Using too hot water can strip of the natural oil of the skin and leaves your skin dry, itchy. Moreover, excessive washing of hands can even have bleeding spots.

Wear Gloves when cleaning around:

We are more cautious not only for cleaning ourselves but things around us. We are daily using harsh cleaning products in our homes, cars, or grocery items.

For that, wear gloves when disinfecting surfaces or cleaning any items, so to protect your skin from further damage.

Better to avoid Antibacterial soaps:

Avoid antibacterial soaps or cleansers. They will not prevent infectious diseases. It will lead to dry and cracked skin because it contains chemicals such as fragrance, which can leave irritation on the skin.

To know: I try to use baby soap that are free from fragrance and have fewer ingredients. It leaves my skin much smooth and soft like a baby. =)

Keep washing hands and wear a mask whenever you go out, is a must. Meanwhile, following the basic steps given above will add up further to protect your skin and will give you more confidence in your skin wellness.

Till then, Stay Healthy, Stay Glow!
